Post-purchase surveys: just ask them how they found you.
The most reliable source on what made someone buy is the person who just bought. Stella asks at checkout, maps the answers to your channels, and joins them to the tracked journey behind the same order.
- ✓See TV, podcast, creators and word of mouth, the channels no pixel will ever record.
- ✓No response quotas and no per-response fees. Ask as many buyers as you have.
- ✓Every answer is kept as a raw, queryable row, not locked inside a dashboard.
Included from Starter ($750/mo) and up.
Three of these five are invisible to every pixel you have.
Trusted by growth teams who left enterprise measurement vendors

Which channels can a pixel not track?
A podcast host reads your name out. Someone sees your ad during a game. A friend swears by you at dinner. None of it leaves a trace a pixel can follow, so none of it shows up in any attribution report you have ever run.
The spend and the revenue are real, but the credit lands on whatever the buyer clicked last, usually a branded search they only ran because of the thing you cannot see.
What buyers say is a third of the answer.
Self-reported data is not a replacement for tracking or testing. It is the lens that covers what the other two cannot, which is why all three live in one place.
Every touchpoint the pixel can see, first ad to checkout.
The buyer tells you directly, including the channels no pixel records: TV, podcast, a friend.
A controlled test. The only one of the three that proves cause, which is why the other two calibrate against it.
Each is a third of the answer. Stella answers all three.
One question stays fixed. That is the point.
Every survey opens with how the buyer heard about you; you control the answers and how each maps to a channel. The prompt stays put, because a question that keeps changing cannot be compared over time.
Add more from a library covering NPS, what nearly stopped them, what convinced them, plus your own free-text questions.
It should look like your store, not like a survey tool.
Six presets, then make it yours: colors, corners, type, light or dark. Show it inline or as a popup, with a live preview as you work.
What you see in the preview is what ships.
Three of these five are invisible to every pixel you have.
Ten minutes, through an app you own.
On Shopify, a guided setup connects the survey through an app your store owns, in about ten minutes. Anywhere else, it is a single script tag on the confirmation page.
A shopper sees the survey once per order, and the data privacy requests Shopify sends are handled for you.
Nice quotes are not a budget decision.
Answers roll up into a share of discovery and the revenue behind it, projected across your total revenue, since not every buyer answers.
Set that against spend and you have a directional read on channels that were unmeasurable before, whether that is a podcast, a CTV campaign or a wave of word of mouth. When one looks big enough to matter, prove it with a holdout.
The first reading cannot see the channel at all, which is how good channels end up cut.
Same order, two independent records. The gold one is invisible to every pixel on the internet.
The same order, told from both sides.
Most tools do surveys or attribution. Fewer connect them: one order carrying both the path the buyer took and the reason they give.
That is how you find out the campaign taking credit was standing in front of something else. Survey answers even come through as their own attribution model, next to first touch and linear.
Answers, counted and readable.
Insights that read themselves
NPS, ranked answers with revenue and AOV, and text answers as top terms, a word cloud or the verbatims themselves.
A sixth attribution model
Self-reported sits next to first touch, linear and the rest, so you can see where they agree and where they do not.
No quotas, no per-response fees
Ask every buyer. Your bill is the same whether a hundred people answer this month or a hundred thousand.
Raw rows, not just charts
Every response is a raw, queryable row joined to its order. On Scale, delivered into your own warehouse.
Ask it from your AI tools
On Professional and up, query responses from Claude, ChatGPT and the AI tools you already use.
Themed to your brand
Six presets, full color and type control, light or dark, popup or inline, with a live preview that matches what ships.

Survey questions, answered.
What is a post-purchase survey?
A post-purchase survey is a short questionnaire shown right after checkout, usually opening with 'How did you hear about us?'. Because the buyer answers seconds after purchasing, response rates and answer quality are high, and the answers capture channels tracking pixels cannot see, like TV, podcasts and word of mouth. Marketers use them as zero-party data to check ad-platform claims against what customers actually say.
Do you cap how many responses I can collect?
No. There are no response quotas and no per-response fees, on any plan that includes surveys. Tools that meter responses put you in the position of hoping fewer customers answer, which is a strange thing to want from a research product.
Do I need my own Shopify app?
You install the survey through an app you own, using a guided six-step setup that takes about ten minutes. That means the connection belongs to you rather than sitting inside someone else's marketplace listing. On any other platform, it is a single script tag on your confirmation page.
What can I actually ask?
The first question is always how the buyer heard about you, with answer options you control and map to your channels. Keeping that one prompt consistent is deliberate, because it is what lets answers be compared over time and across brands rather than being reworded into meaninglessness. After it you can add from a library of questions covering NPS, what nearly stopped them, what convinced them, who else they considered and more, plus your own free-text questions.
How does a survey answer become a number I can act on?
Answers map to canonical channels, so responses roll up into a share of discovery and the revenue behind it. Because only a portion of buyers answer, Stella can project those channel splits across your total revenue rather than pretending the surveyed orders are the whole business. Set against what you spent, that gives you a directional, self-reported read on channels your pixel cannot measure at all.
Where does the response data live?
Every response is written as it arrives into a BigQuery dataset dedicated to your workspace, and stored as a raw row rather than a rolled-up chart. It is your zero-party data, queryable in SQL and joinable to your order data. The same rows are what the dashboard reads. On the Scale plan we deliver the whole set into your own data warehouse, so you can report on it however you like.
What plan includes post-purchase surveys?
Post-purchase surveys are included from Starter ($750/mo) and up, along with Multi-Touch Attribution. Holdout testing and media mix modeling are in every plan, free and up.
